Preschool Program

Serving Francis Howell Children from preschool age to Kindergarten entry:

Francis Howell's preschool programs provide excellent social and pre-academic experiences for children ages 3-5. Learning and instruction is individualized as children progress at their own rate. When classrooms are composed of communities of learners with a range of abilities and gifts, there are measurable gains in socialization, independence, and interaction with peers.

The Full Day Preschool program is open 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM and follows a calendar that mirrors the District’s calendar for elementary and secondary schools.

Full Day Multi-Age Preschool Classroom (ages 3-4)
Learning and instruction are individualized as children progress at their own rate. Children engage in real, meaningful activities at their own level of development. Younger children are nurtured by older children and benefit from collaborative learning, and older children show increased levels of competence and leadership. This program is offered five days a week, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Children must turn 3 years old before August 1.

Full Day Preschool Off to Kindergarten (O2K) Classroom (ages 4-5)
The Off To Kindergarten (O2K) program is an age-specific program designed for students who will enter Kindergarten the following school year. This classroom has a more in-depth emphasis on the literary component within our existing curriculum. This program is offered five days a week, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Children must turn 4 years old before August 1.

Limited part-time spots available. A non-refundable activity/supply fee is due at the time of enrollment.

Parents provide snacks and lunch for students in full-day preschool programs.

Half Day Multi-Age Preschool Classroom (ages 3-4)
Learning and instruction are individualized as children progress at their own rate. Children engage in real, meaningful activities at their own level of development. Younger children are nurtured by older children and benefit from collaborative learning, and older children show increased levels of competence and leadership. Children must turn 3 years old before August 1. Half Day Multi-Age Preschool is offered from 8:15 AM to 11:20 AM on a two- or four-days per week schedule. Parents provide a daily snack for their child.

Half Day Off to Kindergarten (O2K) Classroom (ages 4-5)
The Off To Kindergarten (O2K) program is an age-specific program designed for students who will enter Kindergarten the following school year. This classroom has a more in-depth emphasis on the literary component within our existing curriculum. Children must turn 4 years old before August 1. Half-Day O2K Program is offered from 12:10 PM to 3:15 PM on a four-days per week schedule. Parents provide a daily snack for their child.

• Monday - Thursday, 12:10 PM to 3:15 PM

The Non School Day program is available to all early childhood students during school breaks, certain holidays, as well as Professional Development days. This program is run by Vacation Station.

• Offered to full-day students on days school is not in session (fall, winter, spring breaks, holiday breaks, and teacher meeting/work days)
• Closed on major holidays when the District is closed
• Care on days outside the school year calendar will be held at alternative sites
• Skill practice based on the preschool curriculum will be provided in fun activities each day
• Choose individual sessions depending on the needs of the family
• A non-refundable activity/supply fee is due at the time of enrollment
